Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a 62‑year-old Lagos businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) for attempting to smuggle cocaine to China.
During routine screening on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Izueke was found to have ingested 95 jumbo wraps of cocaine weighing 1.589 kilograms. He confessed that he trafficked the drugs to fund a home project in Iwollo, Enugu State.
In a separate operation in Ibadan, Oyo State, NDLEA officers dismantled a synthetic cannabis (“Colorado”) production facility. Suspects Jimoh Nurudeen (40) and Ogundipe Yusuf (27) were arrested at Badeku area, Ibadan, and the agency seized:
Chemicals used in drug production

These operations are part of a nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse, with NDLEA reaffirming its commitment to disrupting narcotics supply chains and preventing Nigeria from being used as a transit hub for illicit drugs.
