Security Update: Army Recovers Cattle, Dismisses Viral Video in Gyel District!
Reported By Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
Following the arson attack on Acha farms in Gyel District, Plateau State, troops from Sector 5 of the Nigerian Army, Bukuru Area Command, launched a search operation early Friday morning in pursuit of those responsible.
According to local sources, Fulani herders suspected in the attack fled upon the army’s arrival. Security personnel successfully confiscated cattle abandoned at the scene, which have since been transferred to the NDA Command for further investigation.
“The video circulating online is misleading — it is not from today’s incident. It was edited and reposted by unidentified individuals,” said Dungs Sylvester Bitrus, BYM Chairman of Gyel District.
Key Details:
- Operation took place around 7:00 a.m. in bushy terrain near the attacked farms.
- No casualties were reported during the operation.
- Investigations are ongoing to identify both the arsonists and those behind the misleading video.
Community Advisory:
Residents are being urged to stay vigilant, avoid early-morning travel into remote areas, and cooperate fully with security agencies to maintain peace.
“Let us remain cautious and work with authorities for the safety of all,” Bitrus appealed.
