Remi Tinubu Unveils 10 Digital Learning Centres for Youths!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned ten new Digital Learning Centres aimed at equipping young Nigerians with critical tech skills for the 21st century.
What We Know:
- The centres were launched under her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) across 10 states, including Lagos, Kano, Enugu, and Rivers.
- Each facility is equipped with internet-enabled computers, training hubs, and instructors to teach coding, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship.
- Remi Tinubu said the initiative targets secondary school leavers and undergraduates, “preparing them for the realities of a digital economy.”
Quote:
“We are investing in the future—giving Nigerian youth tools to become creators, innovators, and problem solvers.”
— Senator Oluremi Tinubu
Why It Matters:
- Nigeria faces a growing digital divide, especially among youth in rural and underserved communities.
- With global tech jobs expanding, such interventions could boost youth employment and national productivity.
- The centres may also serve as safe, skill-building alternatives amid rising insecurity and unemployment.
What to Watch:
Impact assessments of the centres’ usage and student outcomes.
- Possibility of public-private partnerships to scale the programme.
- Inclusion of girls and marginalised communities in tech learning access.
