Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has opened the *online portal* for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables across the country. The nationwide recruitment exercise — approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — aims to strengthen community policing, enhance internal security, and expand the manpower of the police force. [1]According to the official announcement, the application portal opened on 15 December 2025 and will close at 11:59 pm on 25 January 2026. Eligible Nigerians who wish to serve in the police force are invited to apply exclusively online through the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. [1]The recruitment exercise is open to candidates for both the General Duty and Specialists cadres. For the General Duty category, applicants must have GCE/SSCE/NECO with a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. Applicants for the Specialists cadre must possess at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, along with a minimum of three years’ practical experience and relevant trade test certificates. [1]To be eligible, candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth, medically, physically and psychologically fit, and free from any criminal record or financial misconduct. Age requirements are 18–25 years for General Duty and 18–28 years for Specialists. General Duty applicants must also meet minimum height standards. [1]The PSC emphasised that the recruitment process will be transparent, merit‑based, and completely free of charge, warning applicants to beware of fraudsters and fake websites[1]
