Police Transfer TikToker Mirabel to Ogun Women Affairs Ministry as Rape Allegation Probe Continues!

Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan, Editor-in-chief | Sele Media Africa

The Ogun State Police Command has released TikTok content creator Mirabel, identified as Abigeal Nsikak, to the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development as investigations continue into her widely publicised rape allegation.

Police authorities confirmed that Mirabel voluntarily presented herself to officers in connection with the case, after which she was transferred to the ministry to receive welfare and psychosocial support while the probe proceeds.

According to the commandโ€™s spokesperson, the move forms part of a coordinated response aimed at safeguarding the welfare of the alleged victim while ensuring that investigators are able to establish the facts of the case through due process.

The case gained national attention after Mirabel shared a viral video on social media alleging that she had been sexually assaulted by an unidentified individual in her residence. The claim sparked widespread public concern and prompted intervention from state authorities and civil society actors.

Officials have emphasised that the investigation remains ongoing and that no conclusions have yet been reached regarding the allegation. Authorities also urged the public to avoid speculation that could undermine the investigative process or prejudice potential legal proceedings.

The Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice while prioritising the safety and dignity of individuals involved in the case. Welfare officials are expected to continue monitoring Mirabelโ€™s condition as police gather evidence and interview relevant parties.

The case highlights the growing role of social media in amplifying allegations of sexual violence in Nigeria, as well as the increasing collaboration between law enforcement and social services in handling sensitive cases involving vulnerable individuals.
