Police Arrest 15-Year-Old Over Alleged Murder of Guardian in Kwara

Authorities in Kwara State have arrested a 15-year-old boy for the alleged killing of his aunt and guardian in Ilorin, in a case that has drawn public attention to family violence and juvenile crime in Nigeria. The Nigeria Police Force, through the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the arrest during a press briefing by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, who described the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing. Suspect allegedly attacked victim inside her residence according to police accounts, officers responded to a distress report after the victim—identified as Mrs. Akanbi—was discovered in a pool of blood inside her home in Ilorin. He later contacted the victim’s husband, who returned home and discovered her lifeless body. Authorities also revealed that earlier attempts to poison the victim with insecticide had allegedly failed prior to the fatal attack.
