LAGOS — Nollywood and social-media circles were thrown into shock on Monday after multiple online reports said actor and content creator Odira Nwobu allegedly died in South Africa in the early hours of November 24, 2025. The reports say the actor suddenly collapsed shortly after returning from a night out.
According to posts shared by film producer and blogger Stanley Ontop and other entertainment commentators, Nwobu had been at a nightclub the previous night and was later found unwell at his accommodation. Early eyewitness posts and a video shared online showing the actor at the club circulated widely after the claim of his death.
Several outlets reporting the story say the suspected immediate cause was complications from high blood pressure (hypertension), though an official medical determination has not yet been released.
