A 14-year-old Nigerian student, Oluwadamilola Adeolu, has emerged as the Junior Champion at the 2026 African Spelling Bee, held in Harare, Zimbabwe, signaling a historic achievement for Nigeria on the continental academic stage.

Adeolu’s victory represents the culmination of a steady ascent through both national and international spelling competitions. She previously placed second in the 2023 MTN Spelling Bee, second in the 2024 Ekiti State Spelling Bee, fifth in the 2025 African Spelling Bee, and second in the 2025 Nigeria Spelling Bee.
