Nigerian Army Rescues 12 Kidnap Victims, Arrests Two Suspects in Enugu Anti-Kidnapping Operation!

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 12 kidnapped victims and apprehended two suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Enugu State, in what authorities describe as part of intensified efforts to curb violent crime in Nigeria’s South-East region.

According to military sources, the operation was carried out under Operation Eastern Sanity, a security initiative launched by the Nigerian Army to dismantle kidnapping networks and restore stability across communities affected by rising criminal activity in the region.

Coordinated Military Operation
Security officials disclosed that the rescue mission followed actionable intelligence indicating that a group of abducted individuals were being held in a remote location by suspected kidnappers. Troops deployed to the area conducted a tactical operation that led to the safe recovery of all 12 victims.

During the raid, two suspects believed to be connected to the kidnapping ring were arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down additional members of the criminal network who reportedly fled the scene.

Military authorities stated that the rescued victims were provided immediate assistance and handed over to relevant authorities for medical evaluation and reunification with their families.

Rising Security Pressure in Nigeria’s South-East
The latest rescue highlights the continuing security challenges in Nigeria’s South-East, where kidnapping for ransom has increasingly targeted commuters, farmers, and residents in rural communities.

Security analysts note that operations such as Operation Eastern Sanity form part of broader federal efforts to strengthen intelligence-driven responses against organized criminal groups operating in forested and remote areas.

In recent months, Nigerian security forces including the army, police, and other agencies have intensified joint patrols, surveillance operations, and raids aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates across several states.

Military Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to protecting civilian lives and maintaining law and order, urging communities to continue sharing credible information with security agencies to support ongoing operations.

Authorities emphasized that collaboration between residents and security forces remains crucial to sustaining progress in the fight against kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.
