Kidnappers Murder Ebonyi Monarch and Father of Ex-Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe as Police Arrest Suspects

The father of former Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Dr. Kelechi Igwe, traditional ruler Ezeogo Francis Igwe, has been killed by kidnappers days after he was abducted in southeastern Nigeria, authorities confirmed.Police said the monarch, who ruled the Ndufu-Alike community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was abducted by armed men while travelling to church on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The attackers reportedly intercepted his vehicle along the Nwakpu axis, forced him out, and took him away on a motorcycle to an unknown destination. Security operatives subsequently recovered his remains during a follow-up operation.
