It’s ‘Pure Genocide’, APC’s Adamu Garba Backs Trump on Killings in Nigeria!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has publicly supported the claim made by Donald J. Trump that there is an ongoing genocide in Nigeria. Garba stated the scale of killings across the nation, especially in villages and homes of defenceless people, can only be described as such. [1]
Speaking on the Trust TV current‑affairs show Daily Politics, Garba noted that both the violent attacks and the diversion of funds meant for security should be regarded as part of a broader campaign of destruction. He said:
“When you look at the number of people who have been killed across the country in their villages, sleeping in their homes, defenceless. What else can you call it? It’s nothing but pure genocide.” [1]
However, Garba clarified that he was not limiting the violence to a specific religious group, stating that both Christians and Muslims are victims of the crisis. [1]
Reaction & Context
Garba’s remarks come amid wide‑ranging commentary from U.S. and Nigerian officials about the nature and scale of violence in Nigeria. While President Trump threatened possible military action and labelled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern”, the Nigerian government rejected allegations of targeted Christian genocide, insisting the violence spans religious and ethnic lines. [2]
Garba also criticised the Nigerian government’s response to the international attention, calling its communication “very amateurish”. [3]
