Iran–Israel War: Nigeria Must Join Global Diplomatic Push to Pressure Trump — Falana!

Prominent Nigerian human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to collaborate with the international community to mount diplomatic pressure on the United States amid the escalating conflict involving Iran and Israel.

Falana’s call follows heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and renewed concerns about the role of the United States under former President Donald Trump in shaping policies that have influenced the current crisis.

In a public statement, Falana argued that Nigeria, as Africa’s most populous nation and a key diplomatic actor on the continent, should not remain silent in the face of developments that threaten global peace and stability. According to him, the conflict between Iran and Israel carries far-reaching consequences for international security, energy markets, and the broader geopolitical balance.

The senior advocate stressed that Nigeria should work through multilateral platforms, including the United Nations and the African Union, to advocate for restraint and de-escalation.

Falana noted that coordinated diplomatic engagement from multiple nations could encourage Washington to reconsider policies that may intensify hostilities in the region. He also warned that unchecked escalation could deepen instability across the Middle East, with ripple effects on global economic systems and security frameworks.

“The Nigerian government must align with progressive forces around the world to insist on diplomacy rather than confrontation,” Falana said, emphasizing that international cooperation remains the most effective pathway to preventing a broader regional war.

The call comes amid growing international concern over renewed hostilities between Iran and Israel, which analysts warn could spiral into a wider confrontation if global powers fail to intervene diplomatically.

Observers note that African countries, including Nigeria, increasingly play significant roles in shaping global diplomatic conversations through platforms such as the United Nations, where coordinated action can amplify calls for peace.
