INEC Reiterates Zero Tolerance for Vote Buying Ahead of Anambra Poll!

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has restated the Commission’s firm stance against vote buying ahead of the upcoming Anambra governorship election.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, Prof. Amupitan emphasized that electoral malpractice undermines democracy and warned political actors and voters against engaging in transactional voting.

“INEC maintains zero tolerance for vote buying. We urge citizens to report and provide credible evidence to support enforcement actions,” he said.

He assured that the Commission, in collaboration with security agencies, will ensure that violators are prosecuted and that the electoral process remains transparent and credible.

INEC also called on political parties to sensitise their supporters to uphold electoral integrity and resist inducements during the voting process.
