Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has remained in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following the withdrawal of a senior civil servant who had earlier offered to stand as his surety, citing alleged threats to personal safety.
According to information obtained by Sele Media Africa, the Permanent Secretary—whose identity has not been officially disclosed—formally communicated the decision to withdraw as surety after reportedly receiving warnings and intimidation linked to the high-profile nature of the case. The development stalled administrative processes that could have facilitated El-Rufai’s release on administrative bail.
