The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, has uncovered a criminal hideout and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in a targeted operation against a suspected armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate operating near the busy WarriโSapele Road.
Police authorities said the raid, carried out in the Adheje community, marks another significant step in the commandโs intensified strategy to dismantle violent criminal networks across the oil-rich state.
Intelligence-Led Operation
According to the command, operatives acted on credible intelligence that led them to the gangโs hideout, where weapons and ammunition were discovered. While officials have yet to disclose the full inventory, the recovery is believed to include firearms linked to recent cases of armed robbery and kidnapping in the area.
Security sources noted that the operation was part of sustained efforts to secure major transit corridors and communities vulnerable to violent crime.
Ongoing Crackdown on Kidnapping
Kidnapping for ransom and armed robbery have remained persistent security concerns in parts of southern Nigeria, particularly along strategic highways. The WarriโSapele corridor is a critical economic route, making it a priority focus for law enforcement.
The Delta Police Command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven policing, community partnership, and rapid response operations aimed at restoring public confidence and ensuring safer movement across the state.
Investigation Continues
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend members of the criminal network believed to be connected to the hideout. Residents have been urged to provide useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
Security analysts say sustained pressure on criminal enclaves will be crucial to consolidating recent gains and preventing regrouping by armed gangs in the region.
