2027 Elections: Nigerians Could ‘Dismantle APC’ Over Hardship — NNPP’s Galadima Warns!

Reported by Mustapha Labake Omowumi (Journalist) | Sele Media Africa

A prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has cautioned that mounting economic hardship and insecurity could trigger a strong electoral backlash against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a recent political commentary, Galadima drew parallels with the 2015 electoral defeat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration led by former President Goodluck Jonathan, warning that no governing party is immune to voter dissatisfaction.

According to the NNPP stalwart, the removal of an incumbent government in 2015 demonstrated the growing power of Nigerian voters to demand accountability through the ballot. He argued that if the current economic and security challenges persist, the electorate could once again mobilise decisively in 2027.

Galadima stressed that widespread hardship — including rising cost of living pressures — is testing public patience. While he did not predict a specific electoral outcome, he maintained that democratic systems naturally empower citizens to “correct” governments they perceive as underperforming.

The APC has repeatedly defended its policy direction, pointing to ongoing economic reforms and security operations aimed at stabilising the country. Government officials have also urged Nigerians to allow time for reforms to yield results.

Political analysts say early rhetoric ahead of the 2027 cycle reflects intensifying inter-party positioning, even as the next general election remains more than a year away. Observers note that voter sentiment in Nigeria has historically been influenced by economic conditions, security trends, and coalition dynamics among major parties.

The NNPP has been seeking to expand its national footprint following its performance in the 2023 elections, where it emerged as a notable third force in parts of northern Nigeria. However, analysts caution that Nigeria’s electoral landscape remains fluid, with shifting alliances likely to shape the 2027 contest.

As public debate continues, Galadima’s remarks underscore a broader warning from opposition figures: that governance outcomes between now and 2027 could significantly influence voter behaviour at the polls.
