Supporters of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have proposed a joint presidential ticket pairing Peter Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The proposal was made public by Kwankwaso loyalists in Kano State, who described the Obi–Kwankwaso alliance as a strategic partnership capable of addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and governance challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Abba Sadauki Gwale said the proposed alliance is designed to combine Peter Obi’s strong support base in southern Nigeria with Kwankwaso’s formidable political following in the North, thereby forming a broad national coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We propose and fully support a joint presidential ticket, particularly with Peter Obi, in any party that can make it possible,” Gwale said, adding that the alliance is aimed at rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.
While the proposal has sparked debate across political circles and social media platforms, it remains a supporter-driven initiative and has not received formal endorsement from either Peter Obi or Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Political observers note that both leaders have intensified efforts to realign opposition forces ahead of 2027, with Peter Obi openly signaling his intention to contest the presidency and Kwankwaso exploring possible political alliances.
